EMDR Intensives
Before scheduling any Intensive, we'll have a brief 15-minute consultation call to talk through what you're hoping to work on and whether this format seems worth exploring further. This is a general fit conversation, not a clinical assessment.
Virtual or In-person in Alpharetta, Georgia
If you've done EMDR before, you know the feeling of finally getting somewhere, and then having to stop.
Standard EMDR sessions are valuable, but an hour is a tight container for deep trauma processing. We spend time getting settled, getting into the work, and then just when something real starts to move, time's up. We close it down, you go back to your day, and we pick it up again next week.
EMDR intensives exist because some work deserves more room than that.
A half or full day intensive gives us uninterrupted time to go deep, stay there, and actually finish what we start. You're not squeezing this between meetings or rushing back to your life afterward. You're giving yourself a day, or half a day, to do something that matters.
This format isn't for everyone. Intensives aren't a fit for acute crisis, unmanaged dissociation, or without enough stabilization in place yet, and that's something we'll figure out together during your Preparation Session. But for the right person, it can move mountains.
Half-Day Intensive | $875 total
Preparation Session (55 min, $175): a standard individual session for assessment, resourcing, and readiness. Required for new clients before scheduling. Billed separately at the standard rate.
Intensive Session (3 hours, $525): two 80-minute processing blocks with a 20-minute break
Integration Session (55 min, $175): scheduled 1-2 weeks after your Intensive
A $350 non-refundable deposit (half of the Intensive + Integration cost) secures your date, due once we've confirmed fit and a date is chosen
Best suited for a single incident or a small set of closely related memories.
Full-Day Intensive | $1,650 total
Preparation Session (55 min, $175): same as above
Full-Day Intensive Session (9:00 AM–4:00 PM, $1,225): structured with grounding and history-taking, a 90-minute lunch break, reprocessing, check-in, and closing
Follow-Up Session (90 min, $250): scheduled about a week later
A $737.50 non-refundable deposit (half of the Intensive + Follow-Up cost) secures your date
Allows for broader history-taking and may be appropriate for more complex presentations, depending on clinical judgment.
Current clients of Katie Barillas Counseling may bypass the separate Preparation Session, since that assessment happens within the course of ongoing care.
A few practical notes
Because Intensives require a significant block of dedicated time, rescheduling requires at least 2 weeks' notice, and deposits are non-refundable. Full policy details are covered in your Intensive Agreement before booking.
If you're joining virtually, you'll need a private, quiet space, a reliable internet connection, and to be physically located in Georgia at the time of your session. Wired headphones are preferred if we're using audio-based bilateral stimulation, Bluetooth can introduce a delay that interferes with the timing.
