No Surprises Act
Your Rights and Protections Against Surprise Medical Bills
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before your first appointment.
What this means for you: You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services, including psychotherapy sessions. This estimate will be provided to you before your first session and upon request at any time
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.
About My Fees For individual counseling and adjunct EMDR: $210 for an initial 60-minute intake session, $175 for a standard 55-minute session, and $250 for an extended 90-minute session. For couples counseling: $235 for an initial 60-minute intake session, $195 for a standard 55-minute session, and $280 for an extended 90-minute session. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your intake appointment and is applied toward the intake fee. I am a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. Upon request, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
To Request a Good Faith Estimate Contact me at katie@katiebarillascounseling.com before scheduling your first appointment, or I will provide one automatically as part of your intake paperwork.
